Cartwright Plastering Services is a family-run company, founded by James in 1998. It started out as James Stopps Plasterers, and in 2026 the business was renamed Cartwright Plastering Services. It’s the same family, the same craftsman and the same high standards, under a new name.
Based in Crowborough, James has 28 years in the trade. You’ll deal with the person doing the work, from the free quote to the final clean-up. Every job, big or small, gets the same honest pricing, careful preparation and pride in the finish. That’s why so much of our work comes from recommendations.

How messy is plastering?
It can be, but it doesn’t have to be. Floors, furniture and doorways are fully covered before work starts, waste is removed as we go, and every room is hoovered and wiped down before we leave.

How long until I can paint new plaster?
Fresh skim usually needs around 1 to 2 weeks to dry fully, depending on thickness, ventilation and time of year. When it’s an even light pink with no dark patches, apply a mist coat first.
